San Fernando Tutoring Adventures

Long Beach has certainly become special in our hearts since expanding into this shoreline city. We’ve tutored all over Los Angeles, but Long Beach is certainly unique!

Our first job here in the LBC was actually a group tutoring program held at St. Anthony’s that ran for six weeks. The highest score on the SAT had just changed from 1600 to 2400, so we started doing weekend informational test prep events about what students could expect from this version of the test.

The first day of our class coincided with our biweekly meetup, so we decided to meet for dinner after the session. We each had to collect any leftover materials and tidy our classrooms, so we just said, “Let’s meet at the cute Mexican place on 4th.” Needless to say, half of us went to Tito’s while the other ended up at Lola’s! Well, at least we can say we like apostrophes.

Funny enough, we’ve had more adventures as a group in Long Beach since then. We’ve accompanied our home school clients on their field trip days at the aquarium. We’ve also worked with multiple public-school students through referrals from Jordan High.

All of us here at Learning Period take our roles very seriously. We see the future in each child, and have the same hopes and concerns as you, because some of us are also parents. What’s more, we’re not just tutors, we’re also credentialed tutors. We’ve gone through the state of California’s educational requirements to learn about child development, learning across all ages, and behavior and motivation.
